If you’ve been reading my posts lately you know that I have been pushing really hard on my treadmill intervals. According to the treadmill I’ve been running much faster than I used to. At the beginning of March I did 3 miles in 24:38 and almost every time I have run since then I’ve been running under 8:30/mile. I was sure that I’d be a speedy gonzales once I started running outside again. WRONG!
After taking Sunday off and only going for a 2.5 mile walk last night (been being a little lazy), I was excited to get outside for my first run of the spring. This Sunday (St Pattys Day) is my first road race of the season, a 4 miler in Norwell MA. With how well I have been running on the treadmill lately I had set a goal in my head of 35:30 (very lofty goal), knowing in reality I would be happy with 36:00! 9 minute miles is pretty decent.
I literally pushed as hard as I could outside today was only average 9:50/mile….I’m unbelievably frusturated and disappointed!
Needless to say, my new goal for Saturday’s 4 miler is 38 minutes. Bummer.
